Email Scam reported by easyDNS user.

At least one of our users has been targeted by an email-based scam where domain owners receive an email advising in large letters that their registration is expiring. This registration is not for the domain itself, but (when you read the smaller print below) for a Search Engine service that, as far as can be determined, the user was never signed up for in the first place. This is similar to 'office supply' calls where phone scammers try and get you to confirm orders for toner and paper that you never requested.

Clicking on the renewal link will bring you to a page such as the one below. The URL is a dead giveaway.

Always be careful and keep track of who your registrar is, and remember that you can sign up for easyDNS' myprivacy.ca service to allow you to post an email address but have it filtered for all but official email.

Our thanks to user VG who went out of his way to make sure we could let our other clients be aware of this particular targeted scam.
